Color descriptions and photos

The common guinea fowl is now available in over 20 different colors and patterns. There are four distinct patterns of the dots or "pearling"

Page 1 shows the fully pearled colors. These have small white dots all over the entire feathered portion of the bird.

Page 2 is of the partially pearled colors. These are where the pearls are blended together to form rows of indistinct dots, primarily on the flank and small portions of the back and chest. The other areas are a solid color.

Page 3 shows the solid colors. There are no spots, dots or barring anywhere on the bird.

Pearled colors:
Pearl Grey are a dark gray with white dots through out their plumage. They are the old fashion original color of Guineas, a favorite, prized by many for their beautiful polka dotted feathers.
Keets are brown with black stripes and markings and a tan underside. The head has a broad black stripe down the center with two narrow black stripes on each side of it, with narrow orange stripes between the black.

Lavenders are a light blue-grey with white dots. This is one of the oldest colors and is very common.

Keets are light grey with dark grey stripes and markings. The belly is light grey. The head markings are a broad dark grey stripe down the center of the head with two narrow dark grey stripes on each side of it, with narrow tan stripes between the dark grey stripes.
Buff Dundottes are a soft tan color with white dots throughout. The hens are darker color than the cocks. These can almost be sexed by color.

Keets are a light tan color with dark tan stripes on the back and head. Once again a broad tan stripe with two narrow tan stripes on each side. Light tan underside. Beak, legs, and toes are a light orange. Day old keets are darker on the hens and lighter on the cocks. These feather near white until they molt at two to three months when they get the tan color with dots.
Porcelain are a very pale pastel blue with white dots. Hens are darker here also. This is a dilute of the Lavender, very rare.

Keets are off white with very light blue gray stripping on the head and back. Broad and narrow stripes on the head again. They feather near white until they molt at two to three months.
Brown are dark brown with white dots. The males are slightly lighter than the hens. These are one of the most beautiful colors.

The keets are similar in color to the Pearl Gray keets, only slightly lighter. They feather a light tan color, until they molt at two to three months old and come in quite dark with white dots.

Lite Lavender are a light version of the Lavender. The color is right in between the Lavender and the Porcelain.

The keets are a solid light blue with a white face and throat. They feather light blue and gradually get white dots throughout.
